Know what you are getting.
A slow leak is easier to miss than a puddle in the middle of the floor. The SONOFF SNZB-05P adds a water-detection point near the places you rarely inspect: beneath a sink, beside a washer, or near a water heater. It sends its status through a compatible Zigbee setup.
Place it where water would collect
Set the sensor on a level indoor surface where escaping water is likely to reach its probes. Keep it accessible for testing and battery changes. SONOFF also supports an optional detection cable for reaching around appliances, but check whether that cable is included in the selected package.
An alert needs a working route
You need a compatible Zigbee hub or coordinator; the sensor does not send phone alerts on its own. Confirm support for this exact model and test the notification route after setup. Remote notifications depend on the rest of your system. An automated shutoff would require separate compatible valve hardware.
The sensor uses a CR2477 battery. Check the battery contents before ordering, and dry the probes or detection cable thoroughly after testing. High humidity can affect the optional cable. Treat occasional testing as part of owning it, rather than assuming a quiet app proves everything is working.
Will it fit your setup?
SONOFF lists the SNZB-05P at 48 × 48 × 21.6 mm (about 1.89 × 1.89 × 0.85 inches), with Zigbee 3.0 connectivity and a CR2477 battery. That compact footprint helps under a sink, but leave enough room to reach the button and change the battery.
The manufacturer lists support through its ZB Bridge series, iHost and NSPanel Pro, plus Home Assistant using ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT. Check your exact hub and software before ordering. A Wi-Fi router alone is not the Zigbee hub this sensor needs.
